Dirge

This is a warmup/practice sketch of an old character of mine, mostly to try and work on lighting/shadow. I've changed him a lot over the years lol (sorry Dirge!). Anyway, he's a tengu prince, banished because a prophecy says his power will destroy them even though he appears to have no magical ability at all. Tengu are at war with humans so he swapped sides and now aids them. He has become somewhat of a father figure for another character, a human named Sky who's real father is growing more and more distant and unknowable as the fighting drags on. He does not begrudge his people and has no desire for the power he would have had.

Humans have trained wyverns and fly them into battle, using lances, spears, or arrows (or their wyvern's teeth) to fight. Dirge also carries a lance and his wings are painted before battle to easily identify him as an ally.

If anyone is interested in more about Dirge and his story, I may do other characters and critters from it and revive the story.

Yes he has freaky grabby hand feet.
